Alexis Bledel (Gilmore Girls, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants) and Northwestern 2004 graduate and Evanston native Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights) star in Post Grad, a film about a college graduate’s “pre-life crisis.”
Ryden (Bledel) graduates from college and is forced to move back home and deal with her eccentric family and a disastrously unsuccessful job search. It’s coincidental that this plot is so fitting with the current economic climate seeing as production on Post Grad began back in 2007.
North by Northwestern participated in a web conference with both Bledel and Gilford to talk about their experiences working with Demetri Martin, unrequited love and advice current college students might take away from Post Grad.
What message does Post Grad send to graduates? Alexis Bledel: The point of the movie is that you can’t plan everything, which is really the case right now. It’s a difficult time and it wasn’t this way when we filmed the movie. But it was relevant then and, now even more so. Zach Gilford: I think one of the big messages is not to be obsessed with having to have a job. That will work itself out over time, but there are other aspects of life. So even though it’s hard right now, maybe don’t get so obsessed over that and like find the other things that can keep you going until you find some steady employment.
What did you guys enjoy most about working on the film? ZG: Working with Alexis. It was amazing. AB: We had a lot of fun scenes. What was good about it? It was just a good fit. ZG: It was fun. We had a great crew. It was pretty good, positive, positive energy. And you have Vicky [Jenson], our director, who did Shrek and stuff. And this is her first full-length feature, so she was excited. AB: She had a lot of enthusiasm.
On June 17 Alexis attended the 2009 Whitney Contemporaries Art Party And Auction at Skylight in New York City. She looked gorgeous as always. Enjoy the pictures, more to come!
Exclusively to AlexisandLauren.com, two ‘old’ but new Alexis’s outtakes from 2003 Vanity Fair and from 2008 ShoWest Portraits were added to the gallery. Please don’t repost on other fansites!
Finally a post by me. So I finally got my internet access but now I’m going away for a week. But I’ll try to keep up. Anyway I add some pictures from Lauren’s last event: 63rd Annual Tony Awards
Luck has run out for the Broadway revival of “Guys and Dolls”: the musical is scheduled to play its last performance on Sunday, its publicists said. The show, with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, featured a cast that included Oliver Platt as Nathan Detroit, Lauren Graham as Miss Adelaide and Craig Bierko as Sky Masterson, and was directed by Des McAnuff. But reviews were mixed, and it fared poorly at the Tony Awards, receiving nominations for best musical revival and best scenic design (for Robert Brill) but winning neither. The revival will have played 113 performances and 28 previews at the Nederlander Theater. A national tour for the 2010-2011 season is planned.
On June 3rd, Alexis joined her Sisterhood´s co-stars Amber Tamblyn and Blake Lively for dinner at Five Points restaurant. Earlier, Alexis’s ex-boyfriend Milo Ventimiglia and Blake’s boyfriend Penn Badgley attended the GQ magazine 40th anniversary celebration of the moon landing at New York City’s Omega Boutique. Only missing there was America Ferrera.
Sorry for the downtime guys, but our host had to clear all fansites so we ended up losing our latest update, so here I’m adding them again…
In The Answer Man, Jeff Daniels plays a reclusive author of a landmark book that redefined spirituality for a generation. Lauren Graham is a struggling single mom and Lou Taylor Pucci a young man fresh out of rehab. Like many others, they seek out the author because they’re convinced he has all the answers — but he just wants to be left alone.
Lauren Graham, who recently performed at the Tony Awards Preview Concert, has also joined the list of presenters on June 7th for the Tony Awards. Neil Patrick Harris will the host of this year’s Tony Awards.
The Tony Awards will be broadcast on CBS on June 7th at 8/7c. As well as presenting, Lauren Graham will be there to support Guys and Dolls, which is nominated for “Best Revival of a Musical.” The Tony Awards Preview Concert, in which Lauren Graham performed with Guys and Dolls co-star Kate Jennings, will be shown across the US starting on May 31st (mostly showing on June 6th). You can see here for more details.
